Kling Consulting Group, Inc. staff has been providing municipal geotechnical and geologic review
services since 1994 and currently furnishes these services to seven cities on a full time basis.
Our staff began providing review services at the request of the City of Laguna Beach in 1994.
On October 27, 1993, wildfires pushed by 60 to 70 mph Santa Ana winds raced through Laguna Canyon
to the picturesque seaside town of Laguna Beach. After 72 hours the winds had subsided, the fire
had been contained, 14,337 acres had been blackened and 441 seaside homes had been damaged or
destroyed. In the aftermath of the fire and subsequent El Nino rains, the City of Laguna Beach
asked our staff to assist the city in developing criteria to identify potential
geotechnical hazards applicants might face in rebuilding. Our firm developed a streamlined
checklist format for 2nd and 3rd party review of geotechnical reports that has saved time and
cost for both the city and applicants.
Our firm currently serves the cities of Laguna Beach (since 1994), Palos
Verdes Estates (since 2000), Seal Beach (since 2004), Fountain Valley (since
2005), Rosemead (since 2008), Lake Forest (since 2011).
In addition, our staff has provided frequent services to the Public Works Departments of Culver
City, Fontana, Montclair, Palos Verdes Estates, Rancho Palos Verdes and Moreno Valley.
